THE PRETTIEST GREEN FOR YOUR MOTHER!
Whether in France, Poland or the Netherlands, mothers are always the centre of attention on Mother’s Day!
ORIGIN OF MOTHER’S DAY
Mother’s Day has various origins. This is why Mother’s Day is celebrated on different days in different countries. Have a look at all the holidays in the different countries here.
It is often said that this day was invented by the media and commerce, but nothing could be further from the truth. The origin of Mother’s Day goes much further back. Rhea, the “mother of gods”, was already worshipped in Classical Greece. In the Catholic faith, Maria, the mother of Jesus, has been venerated for centuries. And in the United States, the tradition of celebrating Mother’s Day started in 1870. Julia Ward How began a big publicity campaign for a day that would represent pacifism and disarmament by women. Our Dutch Mother’s Day is rooted in this last tradition.
SPOIL YOUR MOTHER WITH A BOUQUET
Whatever the origin of Mother’s Day, it is all about spoiling mothers. This is accomplished in various ways. And what better way to spoil your mother than with a huge bouquet?
The Carnation is the flower of the month of May, so Carnations are ideal candidates for a pretty Mother’s Day bouquet. In our blog Decoration greens suited to the flower of the month of May, we mentioned that Salal and Carnations are a perfect match. Salal is a beautiful complement to Carnations in any bouquet!
Another green that makes for an enchanting foliage base for your Mother’s Day bouquet is Pistache. This ensures a charming base for any bouquet. The dark green colour of the leaf marries well with a remarkable variety of colours. Easy to combine.
Would you prefer a tropical bouquet to surprise your mother? In that case, choose Phoenix. The leaf appears to have come directly out of the rainforest. It is a strong leaf that gives a tropical effect to any bouquet.
